JEE Main 2022 (Online) 24th June Evening ShiftQuestion 1
Let $x*y=x^{2}+y^{3}$ and $(x*1)*1=x*(1*1)$. Then a value of $2\sin^{-1}\left(\frac{x^{4}+x^{2}-2}{x^{4}+x^{2}+2}\right)$ is
Sets, Relations and Function
Solution
$(x*1)*1=(x^2+1)*1=(x^2+1)^2+1$; $x*(1*1)=x*2=x^2+8$. $(x^2+1)^2+1=x^2+8\Rightarrow x^4+x^2-6=0\Rightarrow x^2=2$ (real). $\dfrac{x^4+x^2-2}{x^4+x^2+2}=\dfrac{4}{8}=\dfrac12$, so $2\sin^{-1}\tfrac12=\dfrac{\pi}{3}$. Option B.
